PROOFREADING DAY

It’s inevitable.

You type an important email. You read it. You run it through spell-check. Maybe you read it again. By the end, you feel confident in your prose, yet you miss a silly error and hit send. As a result, your colleague gets an email about his farewell where you say, “Let’s stay n touch.” instead of “Let’s stay in touch.”, oops!

Proofreading is important, and March 8th marks National Proofreading Day. Thanks to Judy Beaver, she invented this as a way to remember and honor her mother who corrected each and everyone’s spelling and grammar. The significance of March 8th marks a day after Judy Beaver’s mother’s birthday. National Proofreading Day is celebrated to promote error-free writing.
